Households & Membership

Norland Square is home to 131 households, made up of 39 houses, 62 flats and maisonettes, and 30 flats within Norland Square Mansions on the south-west corner.

All resident households contribute an annual precept, agreed jointly by the Council and the Committee. This amount is collected as a small additional levy on council tax and then transferred to the Garden Committee.

Outside Members

Alongside resident households, we have 45 outside members from the immediately neighbouring streets. Of these:

  • 38 members pay £850 per year directly to the Committee.
  • 7 members hold long-term General Access Agreements, created to support the railings restoration project. Their membership runs until 1 June 2056 and they pay the same precept as the larger houses on the Square, paid directly to us rather than via council tax.

Outside membership is limited to the surrounding streets: Norland Place, Queensdale Road (to the Addison Avenue roundabout), Princedale Road (to Princes Place), Princes Place, Carson Terrace, Queensdale Walk, and the lower half of Addison Avenue.

Waiting List

There are typically 30 households on the waiting list. Spaces typically open at a rate of 2-3 per year. The waiting list is managed by the Secretary.
